24in48 tbr

It's 24in48 readathon time and I am super excited! I love week long readathons with challenges, but these super short super intense readathons are a great way to manage to get a lot of reading done.

In case you have never heard of 24in48, the goal is to read for 24 hours in a 48 hour period, running from midnight on Saturday to 11:59 PM on Sunday night (Officially in EST). These hours can be split up however. You can sign up at 24in48.com or find them on twitter at @24in48readathon . It's always a lot of fun, even though I have never actually managed the 24 hours. I kind of hope to change that streak this year. It's a lot of fun to participate and interact. There are updates and challenges on the blog every 3 hours.

I really want to hit that 24 hour mark this year. I got 9 hours and some change last January and wasn't able to do this in July. I think I participated January 2017. I do have plans on Sunday afternoon and early evening that I can't get out of, so it might be a little tricky, but I am definitely ready for this. Also, I think I might be able to squeeze in some reading time during these plans, but it's not something I can really count on too much.

I just got back from the grocery store for food! I plan on making slow cooker cheesy chicken and rice, but I also have a few other microwavable meals. I got blackberries, raspberries, an apple, and a cucumber for my healthy snacks. I also might have Triscuits and cheese. I have chocolate, chips, and pretzels as well. For my drinks, it'll be mostly water and Pepsi, though I might make some hot chocolate.

Honestly, I am probably going to get very little done before the official start time (11 pm in my timezone). I am just glad I managed to get some book reviews done because I'll probably be behind again after this weekend. I still have to eat and I might call my mom. Other than that, I am just going to get myself ready!
So, onto the TBR.

Audiobooks are essential for this readathon (so you can tweet while listening so that time counts). I am going to only listen to The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot. I am about 1/3 of the way through the second book, Princess in the Spotlight. After that, I am just moving onto book 3, which actually makes my audiobook tbr surprisingly easy. I have been listening to these on 1.30 speed, but it would not surprise me if I have to slow it down when I'm multitasking.

For my ebooks, I hope to read Second in Command by Sandi Van, which I got through Netgalley and is being published on February 1. This one is a definite I-really-have-to, but other potential options include Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein, Princess Academy by Shannon Hale, A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro, and History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera. I doubt that I am going to get to all of those, but it's still a nice thought. I read Princess Academy the summer between middle school and high school, but I have heard amazing things about the other three and hope they live up to my expectations.

And on to my physical shelf! First up is Reign of Shadows and Rise of Fire, both by Sophie Jordan. I have read Reign of Shadows before and absolutely loved it, but I want to reread it so that I can hopefully enjoy the sequel just as much. If I recall correctly, I actually gasped out loud multiple times when reading Reign of Shadows and I am really looking forward to the reread. Next is Paper Towns by John Green. My sister really liked it, and I enjoyed some of his other books so hopefully it turns out to be a nice read as well. I have read the first two books in the trilogy, so next is Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han. I have to admit, I love John Ambrose McClaren so I hope he is in this book a ton. The next book is Side Effects by Jen Calonita, which I know absolutely nothing about. I am just going to stick with these five because I doubt that I'll have time to be able to get to anything else.

To record my time, I plan on using the FLIP Focus Timer for Study app on my phone. I have trouble using it for long term use in terms of time studying, but it works really well tallying up the time reading and has a few cool free features.

I am so ready for this readathon to get started! What did you do to prepare? Let me know in the comments how your prep is going. What do you use to record time?

August Six Degrees

I recently discovered the Six Degrees of Separation meme for book blogs, and it looks like a lot of fun, so I decided to start this month, and see how it goes! This month's prompt is a wild card. Since I didn't do this last month, I'm starting with the book that I'm currently in the middle of- The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. First Link: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan These books are both by the same author, but also they are both the books that got me into that specific type of mythology in the first place, both Greek and Egyptian. I've learned so much after becoming interested based on these books in the first place. Second Link: Pandora Gets Jealous by Carolyn Hennesy Both of these books are takes on Greek mythology. Percy Jackson is modern day, but Pandora is set back then. Still, the main characters are both awesome and their interactions with the Greek gods and other Greek mythical beings are just amazing. Third Link: The Frog Princess ...

Unique Settings

Last week, I ran out of time to do my Top Ten Tuesday post, but I still loved the prompt of settings that I'd like to see more of. Since this week was a freebie, I decided to go ahead and do this prompt. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The books I have read from these books have been absolutely amazing in the majority of circumstances, but there needs to be so much more, especially in traditional publishing for a wide range of audiences, though some of these are best suited to YA or NA. So, let's get started! 4H- I spent twelve years as a member of local 4H, and I have only read one book that ever had showing livestock at a county fair as a plotline. It was amazing, but I haven't seen this aspect of my life in any other book. I have a few ideas based on my experiences...

Anticipated Releases

Welcome back to another week of Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl with prompts every week! This one was surprisingly hard for me, maybe because I'm not really in the middle of any great series right now and all of the authors I read a lot aren't releasing this fall. I did include multiple books that I already got from Netgalley but they have not yet come out and I am behind but I still want to read them because I'm excited about their potential and hope that they are as amazing as I wish. So let's get started! Of Ice and Shadows by Audrey Coulthurst- Mare and Denna are an amazing sapp hic couple. I loved Of Ice and Shadows, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the sequel, but I have to. I am really excited for this book. Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan- I got my sister the first book for Christmas and still haven't read it, but this is another amazing sapphic series that I need to read. My sister loved...
