2019 Releases DNF

I started reviewing eARCs through Netgalley at the end of last year, and I hate that I don't love all of them. There are so many out there that I do love (and I've requested way too many) that I just don't have the time or energy to read books that I'm not enjoying. I definitely want to give books a chance, but I'm not going to force myself to keep reading something that I don't like. That being said, I understand that sometimes what I dislike about a book may make others want to read the book all the more. Thus far in 2019, there have been 3 ARCs that I ultimately decided to dnf. Here are my reviews, so you can decide for yourself if this recent release is something that should go on your tbr. Castle of Lies by Kiersi Burkhart I tried so hard to like and finish this book, but I just couldn't. The pov voices sound like the same, narration is far too repetitive. I kept on giving this book chances but nothing was able to entice me to keep reading. I h...

Spring 2019 Wrap Up

Back in March, I posted my Spring 2019 TBR here . So much has managed to occur in such a short amount of time. I did not read all the books that I said I was going to read, at all. In fact, of the ten books on that list, I only read one: A Study in Charlotte . To make things even odder, I read that book the day after I wrote the tbr post and then again in May because I forgot important details when trying to read The Last of August . It's a little disappointing though because I was really excited about reading some of those books and just was unable to finally be able to get to any of them. Still, at some point I'll read them. I just have so many books that I want to read and there just is not enough time for me to actually get this all read. I'm out of school now, which should make finding time to post on this blog easier. However, it has proved more difficult than I had initially hoped. Sure, I managed to read through finals, but back home proves to be harder than I...

OWLs Readathon Wrap Up

This month has been absolutely crazy for me. I wanted to read a lot more than this, but I have to be proud with what I did manage to get done because there has just been so much stuff going on. I even went on hiatus from blogging for the majority of April. But the semester is finally over and I'm ready for the summer and everything else that hopefully lies ahead. The first book I finished this month was Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, which I used for the History of Magic challenge. The prompt for this was a book published at least ten years ago. This was a reread for me, but I still enjoyed reading it and the characters within that I am attached to still. This was the only one I finished early in the month when I thought that it was a good idea to do a readathon the last month of this crazy semester I had. Next is The Distance Between Lost and Found, which I am using for the Herbology challenge, which was a plant on the cover. I read this book on spring break last year and i...

24in48 Wrap Up

Oh my gosh, 24in 48 is over and I actually won! I ended up going with the official time zone, so that means that this is going from 11 pm my time on Friday night to Sunday night at 11 pm. I managed to get about 2 hours of reading done before I fell asleep, which was unintentional. My lights were still on and everything, but I woke up at 7:30 ready to go. I read until about 3 am and woke up around 9:30 am. No one showed up to my SI session so I read the whole time. I managed to win this challenge at an Ultimate Smash Tournament. I also won my first match ever at the tournament. I would have tried to finish this afterwards but I hung out with my friends there until way too late. The 24 hours of reading was just absolutely insane. Last time I only hit 9 hours, but the 24 was both so extreme and so awesome at the same time. I absolutely adored it. It was exhausting and wonderful at the same time. Next time, I really need to work on staying organized because as I am writing this, I...

Top 2018 Reads

In 2018, I managed to read a total of 67 books. When I told my sister this, she frowned and told me that that seemed awfully low. While I set my goal for one book higher than this for the new year (link to goals post here), I also read some incredible books in 2018. These are all found on my favorites books on goodreads, but I only included the ones that I read in the first time in 2018, which totaled to 9 books. While I would have preferred a top 10 list, a top 9 list will just have to do. These books are all books that made my feel. Most of them had tears and gasps, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of them and knew that they had to go onto my favorites shelf. I am likely to reread all of them (at least two this year because of series). Anyway, here goes top 9 books of 2018. 9. The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout This book features a girl going to public school for the first time since being adopted two years ago after living in an abusive foster home, where she ...

Grinchathon Wrap Up

The Readathon: Grinchathon Books Read: 4 books read Pages Read: 1144 pages Success?: Yes! So this wrap up is a few days late, but oh well. This readathon was interesting in that I did not do a whole lot of reading what it was that I had actually put on my tbr. I read some awesome books this round and really loved all of it. I ended up reading four books in total, and while I would have loved to read more, I still had some things in my life that were going on and way too much procrastination, so I will definitely still take this all as a win. The first book I read was Ex-Mas by Kate Brian, to fulfill the "black and green challenge". This book was really cute with a road trip, and you can check out my review of it here. It was an awesome read and I really enjoyed it, and also one of the few actually Christmas things I did this year, what with being away at college. The second book I read was an ebook- United We Stand by Ally Carter. I have been reading the Ga...
