This month has been absolutely crazy for me. I wanted to read a lot more than this, but I have to be proud with what I did manage to get done because there has just been so much stuff going on. I even went on hiatus from blogging for the majority of April. But the semester is finally over and I'm ready for the summer and everything else that hopefully lies ahead.
The first book I finished this month was Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, which I used for the History of Magic challenge. The prompt for this was a book published at least ten years ago. This was a reread for me, but I still enjoyed reading it and the characters within that I am attached to still. This was the only one I finished early in the month when I thought that it was a good idea to do a readathon the last month of this crazy semester I had.
Next is The Distance Between Lost and Found, which I am using for the Herbology challenge, which was a plant on the cover. I read this book on spring break last year and it's different and amazing. I love survival stories and this one is so great based on the characters and everything.
I just managed to squeeze Up for Air on April 30. This book was an amazing middle school book, actually aimed at kids between middle grade and young adult. It was amazing and really good. I used this for the Muggle Studies prompt, which was contemporary.
Honestly, I was not quite sure what career to go for at first. However, based on the prompts that I was able to finish (and the selection that I was interested in, I decided to go with the Journalist/Writer career. This career requires OWLs in History of Magic, Muggle Studies, and one other subject, so I got this taken care of.
For the NEWTs that are taking place in August, based on my career, I only need an E (Exceeds Expectations) in History of Magic and As (Acceptable) in Muggle Studies and one other subject. All in all, that's four books, which based on my plans right now should be able to work out, though I say this cautiously because it always seems like my readathon months can never turn out the exact way that I want them to be.
Overall, this month may not have been all that I had been hoping for, but considering how the month worked out, I'm happy with all that I ended up getting done.
How did you do this month, if you participated in the readathon? Be sure to let me know in the comments.
If there are any great May-August readathons that you plan on participating in, be sure to let me know as well. I'm trying to start planning my summer, and I have a lot of reading to be done.
Thanks for reading!
Alyssa
