Awesome Books out of my Comfort Zone

Welcome back for another week of Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Fair warning: I'm back at school and this semester is already kicking my butt, so I have no idea how frequent posts will be, especially in Top Ten Tuesday, or how long they'll be. I love my new major but it's definitely more front heavy than I'm used to. This week's prompt features books I enjoyed out that were out of my comfort zone. I typically stick to lighter reads, particularly contemparies and romances, though I enjoy faster paced science fiction and fantasy as well. I also am a complete wimp in my reading and the rest of my life as well. So let's get started! Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen McManus- This book was absolutely amazing and the ending sent shivers down my...

Unique Settings

Last week, I ran out of time to do my Top Ten Tuesday post, but I still loved the prompt of settings that I'd like to see more of. Since this week was a freebie, I decided to go ahead and do this prompt. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The books I have read from these books have been absolutely amazing in the majority of circumstances, but there needs to be so much more, especially in traditional publishing for a wide range of audiences, though some of these are best suited to YA or NA. So, let's get started! 4H- I spent twelve years as a member of local 4H, and I have only read one book that ever had showing livestock at a county fair as a plotline. It was amazing, but I haven't seen this aspect of my life in any other book. I have a few ideas based on my experiences...

Must Read Authors

I took last week of Top Ten Tuesday off because I honestly didn't know what to write, but now I'm back for another week! Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week's prompt is Auto Buy Authors. At first, I thought I didn't have any but once I consider the spirit of what "auto buy" is, making a list ended up being a lot easier than I had initially expected. For me, this is a list of authors that I will read any book of theirs that I find, even if I just request it from the library, or only buy if I find it at a used bookstore. All of these authors I love and will read just about anything I put out there. So let's get started! Rick Riordan- The jokes about signing a blood contract for his books? This is me. Heck, I haven't read Magnus Chase yet and o...

Childhood Favorite Series

It's time for another week of Top Ten Tuesday! This week's prompt was childhood favorites, and it was a really fun list to write as I walked back through memory lane. I was only able to narrow it down to eleven, but all of these are great books, especially for kids but also I know that I want to reread now. I read all of these in elementary school and would like to thank the public library that let me read so many of these great series. So let's get started! Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan- Honestly, I cannot count how many times I actually managed to read this, especially the first time. I remember the first time I read The Battle of the Labyrinth on the way back from a trip from my dad, and I just love all of this honest...

Summer 2019 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. It's another week of Top Ten Tuesday! This week's prompt is the top ten books for your summer tbr. I Spring Wrap Up , which I based off of my spring tbr , I only read one out of the ten books that I thought I was going to read, despite managing to finish a ton of books in the spring. just did my So far, my summer reading has gone alright, though nowhere near as much as my dream goal was. Still, I have managed to read some pretty great books and hope that the rest of the summer is able to go as smoothly. Classes start August 26, so I do hope to read as much as possible before then, because it is always hard to tell what a change will have in store for reading and blogging. Let's get started! Will I read all of these books this summer? Pr...

Anticipated Releases

Welcome back to another week of Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl with prompts every week! This one was surprisingly hard for me, maybe because I'm not really in the middle of any great series right now and all of the authors I read a lot aren't releasing this fall. I did include multiple books that I already got from Netgalley but they have not yet come out and I am behind but I still want to read them because I'm excited about their potential and hope that they are as amazing as I wish. So let's get started! Of Ice and Shadows by Audrey Coulthurst- Mare and Denna are an amazing sapp hic couple. I loved Of Ice and Shadows, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the sequel, but I have to. I am really excited for this book. Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan- I got my sister the first book for Christmas and still haven't read it, but this is another amazing sapphic series that I need to read. My sister loved...

Unpopular Bookish Opinions

And I'm back for another week of Top Ten Tuesday! This prompt was really interesting for me, and I'm sure that there were be a lot of really interesting responses, since none of us have the same opinions. I chose four really specific things I want to argue and six that are just facts. So let's get started! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl Book quotes in book reviews. I seriously don't understand this because yeah, I might laugh at a certain quote or something, but I never get this involved into recording it and keeping it. I never get this involved into this idea ever. Owning so many copies of the same book. I mean, do what you what and I understand that there are a bunch of different covers that are beautiful, but I don't understand dropping that much money on a book when you could buy another book that you haven't read yet or don't own. It might be cool to have all these pretty covers, but that's a lot of...

Young Adult Romance Recommendations

It's time for another Top Ten Tuesday ! I had a lot of fun and an easy time writing this post, and I can't wait to see how everyone else ended up taking this prompt in their own direction. As soon as I saw this, I knew that I would be making a list of my top ten books in young adult romance. I did go a little back and forth between contemporary and romance, but narrowing it down to romance made it easier to come up with a list of only ten books. These books are in no particular order, because it would seriously be far too hard to try to sort through all of these books, all that I absolutely love. So let's get started! These are books that I would definitely recommend for anyone who read young adult romances. They are so cute and you will definitely end up shipping the couples in the end. Catching Jordan is the first young adult romance book I ever read and definitely the reason why I fell in love with the genre. Also, so many of the other Hundred Oaks books are amaz...

Ten Years of Favorite Books

Welcome to this week's Top Ten Tuesday! This week, the topic is favorite books from the last ten years, including one from each year. This is a really cool idea, though it was interesting to see which years I struggled to come up with books for, since I did grow up significantly during this timeframe as I'm only nineteen now. So let's get started! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl 2019: Just for Clicks This book really fits in a modern day and I loved reading it so much. You can check out my book review here, but there were twists that were just foreshadowed enough to be a shock and still make sense. 2018: The Astonishing Color of After There is so much going on inside this story and I loved every single bit of it, especially as realities twisted and bits of the past were discovered in this exploration of culture and family. It is a little bit of a longer book, but is definitely worth the time to read it. 2017: They Both ...

Page to Screen Adaptations

It's another Top Ten Tuesday Post! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl . I actually have an old post about adaptations here that you can check out, but for this freebie, I honestly ended up going really free on my list. Some of these following works, I have read and watched. Some I've only read. Some I've only watched and have been too afraid of expectations to start the book. So let's get into it now! 1. The Sun is Also A Star This movie comes out this weekend and honestly, I am just so freaking excited for it. I adored the book so much and definitely would recommend it to anyone and everyone. I'm not going to reread it before I see the movie or else I'll end up judging the movie mostly on differences from the book, but a reread is definitely in order at some point in the near future. 2. The Hunger Games I was in middle school when the trilogy and the first two movies were the hot stuff. Honestly, I was a little...

Characters I Relate To

I'm finally off hiatus and back to Top Ten Tuesday! This week's prompt is characters that remind me of myself. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl . This is not a completely straightforward prompt for me, since I find myself in small ways in most characters. While I cannot come up with characters that I feel like I completely relate to, I tried to find the top ten characters that I relate the most with, particularly in my first experience of reading the particular book that the character is from. 1. Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson and the Olympians Honestly, this is the character who I wanted to be when I was younger and I love her so much. I literally thought about being her for Halloween one year. Smart with major focusing issues? That is seriously all that I do. Also design is super cool, and well I don't pretend to be as good as Annabeth, I still find this type of thinking interesting. I'm not good at drawing, but my mi...

Things That Make Me Pick Up A Book

It's the first Top Ten Tuesday of April! I for one am really looking forward to this month, even though I do have a lot going on. I like being busy in fun ways and actually manage my time better when I have stuff going on but am not overwhelmed. Things are already starting to look better outside with springtime. The prompt this week is things that make me pick up a book. This is a little open ended, but not as much as last week, which was an audio freebie. Anyway, I decided to go with both physical things that I see when browsing and also when other people talk about and recommend a book and what of those things help me to choose to read that book. So here we go! 1.  Pretty and Colorful Covers I absolutely 100% judge books by their covers. When I'm at the library and picking out books to read, I pick out based on the spines and covers before reading the synopsis to see if that's the book for me. When I'm browsing, covers are very much the thing that helps me dec...

Audiobook List With Recommendations

It's Top Ten Tuesday! I have never actually done a freebie prompt before, and for audio freebie, I wasn't quite sure how to go from there so I decided to go with audiobooks, both some of my favorites that I remember and what I currently have to listen to next on audible. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl . I love audiobooks. Most of the time now, I listen while cleaning/packing and during my over five hour drive to my parents. I have to admit, I'm looking forward to having a longer commute for an excuse to listen to them even more. So here are some of my audiobooks, both favorites and on my tbr. 1. The Dog Who Had Kittens This is a weird one to include but when I was little we would get the cassette tape and book from the library all the time and listen to it while following along. This is one of the picture books that makes up my childhood and the first one I can remember. (I feel like I should do a post on books of my childho...
