Favorite Young Adult Couples

Contemporary has always been one of my favorite genres. Once I started reading YA romance, I was hooked The tropes are so cute. I went beyond YA romance for this post to include the adorable Denna and Mare). I will stick with young adult, because I have read little fiction aimed at older individuals. I have no problem reading erotica, just adult isn’t my thing yet.

Potential spoilers ahead! I tried to avoid them but a few, like Simon vs, have a few spoilers I couldn’t avoid.

1. Jordan Woods and Sam Henry, Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally

I could not write a favorite couples list without including Jordan Woods and Sam Henry from Catching Jordan. This is the first YA romance I ever read when I was 12 or 13ish and it was perfect. These two are adorable. I am rereading this book right now. Many other couples featured in this series are adorable, but Sam and Jordan will always be my favorite.

2. Dennaleia and Amaranthine, Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst

I felt the need to include their full names, but I didn’t remember because the nicknames are all that matter! Like I mentioned above, Denna and Mare top this list on the fantasy side. The sequel comes out in August and I have been internally screaming about these two since I finished book one. It was so refreshing to see this cute f/f relationship in a world where their sexuality is not the conflict, and these characters easily make the cut for my favorite couples. I figured out I was bi right before I read this book and seeing this amazing and adorable couple made things easier. I can’t wait for Of Ice and Shadows. I swear, if I get approved for an eARC on edelweiss I will cry.

3. Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

Okay, so I know that this series is not young adult, at least at the beginning and I said I was sticking to just YA, but I could not ignore these two. I also know shipping Percy and Annabeth is not a hot take. I haven’t read Blood of Olympus or any of the more recent series, but I love this pair so much. I identify with both characters in different ways and seeing them so cute and happy makes me feel fantastic. I was listening to the audiobooks of the first series in the fall and got so excited when Annabeth kissed Percy for the first time. This was my first favorite couple and my love for them has not died.
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by that artsy reader girl.

4. Simon Spier and Bram Greenfield, Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Holy crap I love these cute boys so much. Bram especially. When I reread this book before the movie came out, I noticed every single Bram mention, but even the first time I read it, when I had no idea how it ended, I still thought Bram was an adorable character and deserved everything. I love both characters so much and together they are even more awesome. Bram has my heart and soul.

5. Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio, They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera

Both of these boys I would die for. No questions asked. It’s not a spoiler that they both die at the end, but still, when I predicted a wrong ending, I cried a lot. The real ending made me cry even more because these boys are so cute together. I love the trope of falling in love in a single day. These boys did that in the best possible way being absolutely adorable and an amazing couple that belongs together. Mateo is a sweet boy, and he fits so perfectly with Rufus. I love them and I cried about halfway through the book.

6. Miri and Peder, Princess Academy by Sharon Hale

This is the only book I didn’t love as much as everything else on the list, primarily because of how much I loved these two characters! At multiple points, I just wanted to get back to their interactions. Childhood friends who have always somewhat liked each other. It’s pure and cute. There is never any doubt they like each other but there is still conflict in this subplot. It is probably the sweetest and more innocent relationship on this list.

So, who are your favorite couples in literature? Romance is so cute and my favorite subgenre. Let me know about the ships you love in the comments! What do you think about these couples?

Thanks for reading!
Alyssa

Unique Settings

Last week, I ran out of time to do my Top Ten Tuesday post, but I still loved the prompt of settings that I'd like to see more of. Since this week was a freebie, I decided to go ahead and do this prompt. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The books I have read from these books have been absolutely amazing in the majority of circumstances, but there needs to be so much more, especially in traditional publishing for a wide range of audiences, though some of these are best suited to YA or NA. So, let's get started! 4H- I spent twelve years as a member of local 4H, and I have only read one book that ever had showing livestock at a county fair as a plotline. It was amazing, but I haven't seen this aspect of my life in any other book. I have a few ideas based on my experiences

August Six Degrees

I recently discovered the Six Degrees of Separation meme for book blogs, and it looks like a lot of fun, so I decided to start this month, and see how it goes! This month's prompt is a wild card. Since I didn't do this last month, I'm starting with the book that I'm currently in the middle of- The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. First Link: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan These books are both by the same author, but also they are both the books that got me into that specific type of mythology in the first place, both Greek and Egyptian. I've learned so much after becoming interested based on these books in the first place. Second Link: Pandora Gets Jealous by Carolyn Hennesy Both of these books are takes on Greek mythology. Percy Jackson is modern day, but Pandora is set back then. Still, the main characters are both awesome and their interactions with the Greek gods and other Greek mythical beings are just amazing. Third Link: The Frog Princess

Scallywag A Thon TBR

What's better than pirates? Space pirates. And what's better than space pirates? Clearly Scallywag A Thon, a pirate themed readathon that is based on space pirates this year. I just found out about it last week, but Scallywag A Thon starts tomorrow and runs May 5-12. There are multiple paths to take along the map to find where X marks the treasure. In order to make it to the X, there are at least four challenges to complete. You can check out the map here if you are interested in joining me in this quest! This was my first readathon making a bullet journal spread for. I'm actually considering making a post about my starting to bullet journal, but I thought it was fun to create a spread for this readathon, despite my lackluster artistic abilities. Fair warning, I do have problems sticking to a TBR, so this is likely to not end up being what I actually read during the readathon. I definitely have mood reading tendencies. For my starting point, I chose the nu
