Anticipated Releases

Welcome back to another week of Top Ten Tuesday!
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl with prompts every week!

This one was surprisingly hard for me, maybe because I'm not really in the middle of any great series right now and all of the authors I read a lot aren't releasing this fall. I did include multiple books that I already got from Netgalley but they have not yet come out and I am behind but I still want to read them because I'm excited about their potential and hope that they are as amazing as I wish.

So let's get started!

  1. Of Ice and Shadows by Audrey Coulthurst- Mare and Denna are an amazing sapphic couple.
I loved Of Ice and Shadows, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the sequel, but I have to. I am really excited for this book.
  2. Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan- I got my sister the first
book for Christmas and still haven't read it, but this is another amazing sapphic series that I need to read. My sister loved the first book and this is likely to be her Christmas present.
  3. Wilder Girls by Rory Power- I have heard great things about this book
and honestly, I have the ARC and need to hurry up and read this. It's a little outside the realm of my typically scifi, but it seems really good. Another LGBTQ+ read as well.
  4. Stage Dreams by Melanie Gillman- This graphic novel is absolutely
amazing, with a f/f couple and a trans woman, all in a historical fiction fantasy. There are outlaws and I loved this book and hope everyone else does as well.
  5. The Importance of Being Wilde at Heart by R. Zamora Linmark-
Oscar Wilde in modern literature is always interesting, and this book is about love. Honestly, I'll read anything that references Oscar Wilde because he has many of my all time favorite quotes.
  6. The Silence Between Us by Alison Gervais- A cute teen romance,
hopefully with some positive deaf representation. This book seems like it's going to approach arguments that are too often left out of YA and I really hope the lead couple will be adorable.
  7. The Babysitters Coven by Kate M Williams- Teenage girls use magical
powers to fight evil while watching little kids? Honestly, the idea is so out there and creative that I hope for humor and fun tied up with action.
  8. 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons- The main character is a
blogger that is temporarily blinded by an accident. I hope the representation of this blindness is well carried out, and honestly the whole book sounds like a sweet teen romance about family.
  9. Cape by Kate Hannigan- This book is about female superheroes during
World War Two and deals with code breaking. Strong females, superheroes, and secret puzzles? Honestly, this book sounds absolutely amazing and I hope that it will be able to carry it through.
  10. Spin by Colleen Nelson- I loved the other book about a teenage girl DJ
I read (This Ordinary Life) and I find the whole thing really cool. Also, apparently she has a single father that is portrayed healthily.

So these are my top ten anticipated releases for the rest of 2019! What are yours? Be sure to let me know in the comments, and thanks for reading!
Alyssa

Unique Settings

Last week, I ran out of time to do my Top Ten Tuesday post, but I still loved the prompt of settings that I'd like to see more of. Since this week was a freebie, I decided to go ahead and do this prompt. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. The books I have read from these books have been absolutely amazing in the majority of circumstances, but there needs to be so much more, especially in traditional publishing for a wide range of audiences, though some of these are best suited to YA or NA. So, let's get started! 4H- I spent twelve years as a member of local 4H, and I have only read one book that ever had showing livestock at a county fair as a plotline. It was amazing, but I haven't seen this aspect of my life in any other book. I have a few ideas based on my experiences

August Six Degrees

I recently discovered the Six Degrees of Separation meme for book blogs, and it looks like a lot of fun, so I decided to start this month, and see how it goes! This month's prompt is a wild card. Since I didn't do this last month, I'm starting with the book that I'm currently in the middle of- The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. First Link: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan These books are both by the same author, but also they are both the books that got me into that specific type of mythology in the first place, both Greek and Egyptian. I've learned so much after becoming interested based on these books in the first place. Second Link: Pandora Gets Jealous by Carolyn Hennesy Both of these books are takes on Greek mythology. Percy Jackson is modern day, but Pandora is set back then. Still, the main characters are both awesome and their interactions with the Greek gods and other Greek mythical beings are just amazing. Third Link: The Frog Princess

Scallywag A Thon TBR

What's better than pirates? Space pirates. And what's better than space pirates? Clearly Scallywag A Thon, a pirate themed readathon that is based on space pirates this year. I just found out about it last week, but Scallywag A Thon starts tomorrow and runs May 5-12. There are multiple paths to take along the map to find where X marks the treasure. In order to make it to the X, there are at least four challenges to complete. You can check out the map here if you are interested in joining me in this quest! This was my first readathon making a bullet journal spread for. I'm actually considering making a post about my starting to bullet journal, but I thought it was fun to create a spread for this readathon, despite my lackluster artistic abilities. Fair warning, I do have problems sticking to a TBR, so this is likely to not end up being what I actually read during the readathon. I definitely have mood reading tendencies. For my starting point, I chose the nu
