Bout of Books Day Two

Day 2 of Bout of Books 24 is in the books! If you want to know what I was planning to read, check out my tbr  here. My day 1 update can be found  here. The challenge for Day 2 was Character Dinner Party. I am really bad at things like this, so first of all, I would like to apologize in advance. I just am not good at narrowing things done. But I finally decided that I would invite Annabeth from PJO, Poppy from Princesses of Westfalin, Rose from Vampire Academy, Sabrina from Sisters Grimm, and Amani from Rebel of the Sands. Literally, these are just awesome female characters found in books I have read in 2019 and on my favorite goodreads shelf. All of these characters are witty and I think a dinner party with them would be a lot of fun and get into a lot of trouble. The Instagram photo challenge for yesterday was recent 5 star read. I don't have an Instagram, but here is my picture for this challenge. I loved Meet the Sky and you can check out my review for it her...

Meet the Sky Review

Title: Meet the Sky Author: McCall Hoyle Genre: Young Adult, Romance, Contemporary Trigger Warnings: car accident, hurricane, parent leaving, traumatic brain injury, death of a parent, cancer My Rating: 5 Stars Synopsis It all started with the accident. The one that caused Sophie’s dad to walk out of her life. The one that left Sophie’s older sister, Meredith, barely able to walk at all. With nothing but pain in her past, all Sophie wants is to plan for the future—keep the family business running, get accepted to veterinary school, and protect her mom and sister from another disaster. But when a hurricane forms off the coast of North Carolina’s Outer Banks and heads right toward their island, Sophie realizes nature is one thing she can’t control. After she gets separated from her family during the evacuation, Sophie finds herself trapped on the island with the last person she’d have chosen—the reckless and wil...

Bout of Books Day 1 Update

Hey all! Day 1 of Bout of Books is over! If you want to know what I was planning to read, check out my tbr  here. The challenge for Day 1 was #insixwords. I chose "Winter Break: it's time to read" for my six words. I felt like it described what I'm doing right now, since I am fortunate enough not to have classes start until next week. The Instagram photo challenge for today was currently reading. I don't have an Instagram, but here is my picture for this challenge: I actually ended up listening to 5 hours 26 minutes of The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan, which I did not plan to. I probably with listen to some more today, so I will almost certainly finish this audiobook by the end of the week, and hopefully get started on another as well. I forgot how awful some of the voices chosen are, especially the racist choices like for Ethan Nakamora. Also, I swear too many of these characters are British. I read only 50 pages of Princess of the Midnight Ball , ...

Bout of Books TBR

Bout of Books starts tomorrow so I figured that it was about time for me to make a tbr for it. In case you haven't heard of it before, here is how the bout of books team describes this readathon: The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 7th and runs through Sunday, January 13th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.  For all Bout of Books 24 information and updates, be sure to visit the  Bout of Books  blog.   - From the Bout of Books team It's always a fun and relaxing readathon, and it's my last week before classes start, so I figured that I should try to get as many books read for my 2019 goals and Netgalley before I start having homework, classes, and jobs taking up some of that time. My tbr is a little big this time around, but I ...

2019 Goals

Happy New Year!🎈Welcome to 2019!🎈 Last year I started this blog and as I'm sure you could tell if you started reading then, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Then I went off to college and had no idea how to adapt from high school life, which definitely did not help things. But hopefully this year, I am ready to go and I will be way more consistent than last year. This leads me to my New Years resolutions and goals. Some of them are for this blog, some for writing, and some are closer to my personal life. However, I thought that I'd share them anyway, in hopes that this will help in my motivation to actually get them done. I don't know if it was just my school, but I had to learn how to make SMART goals too many times to count. In case you have never heard of SMART goals before, this stands for goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound. However, I am awful at following instructions, so while I used some of these ideas whi...

Cameron: The Sorority Review

Title: Cameron: The Sorority Author: Wendi Corsi Staub Genre: New Adult, Romance, Contemporary Trigger Warnings: racism, racist language, alcohol, underage drinking My Rating: 3 Stars Synopsis A new student at South Florida State, Cameron had never expected her lifelong goal of pledging a sorority to be so stressful and confusing, but when she meets gorgeous Tad Amata, who adores her but dislikes Greek life, she becomes even more troubled. Review Wendy Corsi Staub's Cameron: The Sorority was honestly not what I was expecting. Instead of a book just about teenage girls trying to fit into the college scene, many deeper subjects are discussed, particularly race. Cameron is a biracial girl that is white passing and has to be able to figure out what exactly she wants and who it is that she wants to be. I love coming of age stories, and this was a solid example of one. The main character is relatable and all the...

Grinchathon Wrap Up

The Readathon: Grinchathon Books Read: 4 books read Pages Read: 1144 pages Success?: Yes! So this wrap up is a few days late, but oh well. This readathon was interesting in that I did not do a whole lot of reading what it was that I had actually put on my tbr. I read some awesome books this round and really loved all of it. I ended up reading four books in total, and while I would have loved to read more, I still had some things in my life that were going on and way too much procrastination, so I will definitely still take this all as a win. The first book I read was Ex-Mas by Kate Brian, to fulfill the "black and green challenge". This book was really cute with a road trip, and you can check out my review of it here. It was an awesome read and I really enjoyed it, and also one of the few actually Christmas things I did this year, what with being away at college. The second book I read was an ebook- United We Stand by Ally Carter. I have been reading the Ga...
